Frequently asked questions

Is it hard to balance on a paddleboard?

It takes a few minutes. The bay at Tarrafal is calm — easier than most places. Wider beginner boards are available if needed.

What's the best time of day to paddleboard in Tarrafal?

Morning, before 10–11am. The trade winds build up through the day and create chop on the water. Early is flat, quiet and the light is better.

Do I need to book in advance?

Walk-ins welcome for rentals. WhatsApp ahead in high season (July–September) to guarantee availability.

What's the difference between the guided tour and rental?

The guided SUP tour follows a route along the coastline with a crew member leading. Rental is free-roaming in the bay on your own.
