Is Tarrafal good for snorkeling?
Yes. Tarrafal sits on an active reef with parrotfish, moray eels, octopus and trumpet fish. On calm days visibility is 8–12 metres. Guided snorkeling sessions include boat transport to the best spot of the day. Gear rental is also available if you prefer to explore independently.
Are there boat trips from Tarrafal?
Yes. Kabungo operates three packages: a 2-hour bay and coastline cruise, the same trip with snorkeling stops, and a full experience with snorkeling and a fresh BBQ cooked on board. Book via WhatsApp with at least 24 hours notice (48 hours for the BBQ package).
Do I need experience for these activities?
Most activities are suitable for beginners. Kayaking, paddleboarding and pedalo hire require no prior experience. Snorkeling requires basic swimming ability. When is the best time for water activities in Tarrafal?
Most activities run year-round. Morning departures are best — calmer winds, flatter water, better light. The dry season (November–June) has the clearest water and most consistent conditions. July–September is busier; booking ahead is recommended.
